What Is Fractional Gold?
Fractional gold is any gold bullion product smaller than one troy ounce. Common examples include 1 gram gold bars, 5 gram gold bars, 1/10 oz coins, and 1/4 oz coins.
Buyers choose fractional gold because it has a lower total purchase price than a full ounce, even though the premium per ounce is often higher.
Why Fractional Gold Premiums Are Higher
A tiny gold bar still needs manufacturing, packaging, shipping, listing, and seller handling. Those costs are spread across less gold, which usually raises the premium per ounce.
That does not make fractional gold bad. It simply means buyers should compare total cost and understand the tradeoff: smaller purchase size, higher per-ounce premium.
